Planer needs adjustment
Posted by Dave L on Saturday, 29-Jun-2019

It appears that the planer cutterhead is not parallel to the bed - surfaced boards come out with an edge to edge taper. Fixing this is at the top of my todo list.

Planer cutterhead has new blades and is parallel to the bed (+/- a few thou). Ruler gauge reading is accurate... Jointer also has new blades

Laser is down
Posted by Dave L on Sunday, 07-Jul-2019

Apparently one of its power supplies is dead, a $2k replacement being considered.

The laser is working
Posted by Dave L on Saturday, 13-Jul-2019

Thanks to Robert, the laser is back up for a lot less money. Cutting power is still low due to borderline lens and slightly flawed mirror.

Laser
Posted by Dave L on Friday, 21-Jun-2019

The laser works, but the relatively recent fix (for a burned mirror and lens) involved old optics. Power is on the low side and cutting requires two passes or slower speeds (no luck with slowing down the 3/8 preset on 1/4" plywood... two passes w/ 1/4 preset barely makes it through).

X-Carve Vacuum
Posted by Dave L on Saturday, 15-Jun-2019

The X-Carve vacuum is fixed. If it starts making bad noises again, please use the mitersaw vacuum.

The vacuums have been swapped. Hopefully the yellow vacuum can handle the lighter duty mitersaw usage (lube on the worn top motor bushing may be a short term fix).

Raise Overnight Printing
Posted by Dave L on Thursday, 06-Jun-2019

Somehow the printer pitched the build plate to the floor and kept on printing. The result was a rats nest of extruded filament. This is why there is a no overnight printing note stuck to the printer.

The X-Carve is up

The X-Carve tracking issue has been resolved (loose controller card wire).

Re: The X-Carve is up
Re: The X-Carve is upPosted by Dave L on Thursday, 09-May-2019

The actual cause was likely a loose X-axis stepper ground wire. It's hard to know for sure because someone's attempt at fixing had all the controller card trim pots out of range (Vref > 1.6-1.9v).

The X-Carve has a broken belt. New belts have been ordered.
